Essex Sunshine Coast

ECC master logo Red_CMYK.png

The ‘Essex Sunshine Coast’ is a community theatre project exploring the impacts of extreme weather and climate change on communities in Jaywick and Clacton. Delivered by Wise Ram Theatre (Sofia Bagge and Molly Anne Sweeney), a new neurodiverse theatre company based in Essex – the project will culminate in the development of a new original play and a community celebration event at the Jaywick Martello Tower, supporting their 20th anniversary ‘Summer of Celebration’ programme later this year. Through a series of workshops, this project aims to excite, inspire and galvanise action on local environmental challenges while providing positive mental health outcomes through engagement in the arts.

The Essex County Council Arts and Cultural Fund supports organisations and creative practitioners to deliver a broad and exciting range of work and activity to engage with and bring communities in Essex together. The fund, which is part of Essex County Council’s Everyone’s Essex strategy, supports projects that help economic regeneration and benefit communities. Since launching in December 2021, it has supported over 80 arts and cultural events throughout the county for residents and visitors of all ages to enjoy.

We're so excited to start this project over the late spring and summer.
