We are recruiting for a trainee to join our creative team over 5 days for a development period of our new play Sundream in September 2026, funded by Arts Council England.

Who is this for?

• Young people between 18 and 25 years

• Living in Tendring

• Who is curious about working in arts, events, theatre, film, heritage or culture.
   

What experience do you need?

• No specific prior experience needed, just an interest in theatre or cultural activities more broadly.
   

What will the trainee be doing?

• They will join Wise Ram Theatre in rehearsals in different venues and and short performances of the new play, across Tendring and Ipswich.

  • Some concrete examples of what this could include

    • Watching director and professional actors rehearse​

    • Taking part in discussions about the play

    • Observing the technical work the stage manager does

    • Supporting the producer with marketing and social media

    • Working together with other people in the team to set up a performance space.

    • Going with the other people in the creative time to visit a venue.

    • And much more!

  • All travel expenses will be covered by Wise Ram Theatre​
     

• There will be options for the trainee to get learn about different types of jobs within theatre through shadowing, observing and getting involved at a level that suits them. 
   

Information

• This is a freelance position and the trainee will need to invoice to be paid.

  • We will support anyone new to freelancing with this and signpost to other resources to make this as simple as possible.

• Paid £150/day x 5 days

• These 5 days can be divided up to support several young people to take part. This might happen if there are multiple suitable candidates or applicants request this. (This decision will be made at Wise Ram Theatre's discretion)

• ​Dates: 15th September - 18th September + 22nd September
